Biography
Stella Kao is a performing arts practitioner, researcher, writer and teacher. Her Ph.D. was a study of performing arts cultures in Hong Kong, and she continues to research, write and teach about issues concerning performing arts as a means of critical engagement with culture today. Her work as a theatre practitioner has included playwriting, directing, acting, dramaturgy, choreography and dancing, and she is particularly interested in ensemble work, devising physical theatre, and combining body and voice work from Noh, Butoh, mask work, with other interdisciplinary performative practices for stage work.
